Why not pay a visit to historic Carlisle only half an hour drive away with its famous castle (once home of Mary Queen of Scots) and the nearby Tullie House Museum? Mums and grans can spend an afternoon nosing around The Lanes Shopping Centre with all its’ attractions brand names and tea/coffee shops. Near at hand is “Hadrian’s Wall” spanning nearly 2000 years of history stretching seventy-three miles from Bowness-on Solway on the west coast to Wallsend on the east coast.
Just over the border there is the Old Blacksmith’s Shop in Gretna - made famous for its’ romantic tales of elopement and romance. There’s also the Gretna Gateway Shopping Centre and Sunday market to be enjoyed.
